Brace Treatment of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis

Abstract

|
Brace is generally recommended when the curve is more than 20~25 degree and progressing in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. The goal of brace treatment is prevention of progression of curve. There has been debate regarding the efficacy of brace before, but nowadays brace treatment is accepted as effective treatment among many doctors. The effect of brace of preventing the progression of curvature is reported as 70~80%. Regarding the bracing time, bracing less than 6 hours a day had roughly the same success rate as those of wearing the brace at all. And those who wore the brace more than 13+ hours a day had a success rate of 90% or higher.
